The First Chapter of the First Letter of St.Paul to the Thessalonians

The First Letter of St. Paul

 to the Thessalonians

Chapter 1

1. Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.

(The First Chapter of the First letter  of St. Paul to the Thessalonians Chapter 1 verse 1)

Oh God my Fathe, how nice it would be if instead of asking a person how he was feeling, we would ask that person, "How is Your Spirit and how are You in Christ Jesus!" I wonder how the other person would react to such a greeting! However, on the whole, I think it is a very positive and uplifting greeting that is very healthy to use. Amen

2. We always give thanks to God for all of you and mention you in our prayers, constantly 3. remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

(The First Chapter of the First letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians Chapter 1 verses 2 to 3)

Oh God my Father even though a situation may appear to be bleak, we are still to thank You for that situation, for by means of that situation You may be trying to pass on a message to us in order for us to keep on growing and becoming whole Amen. As Paul remembered the Thessalonians in his prayers and also the good work that they had accomplished in Your name oh God, we are also to include all those who are constantly participating in the Roman Catholic Church and also in other churches and ministries, for You still love all oh God and bless the good work of all that is done in Your name for anyone who believes in You and loves You will never speak against You Amen.

4. For we know, brothers and sisters beloved by God, that he has chosen you, 5. because our message of the gospel came to you and not in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of persons we proved to be among you for your sake.

(The First Chapter of the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians Chapter 1 verses 4 to 5)

Oh God, my Father thank You for choosing me as being worthy of receiving Your Gospel and also the opportunity to reflect and meditate on it and share it with others.

6. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for in spite of persecution you received the word with joy inspired by the Holy Spirit, 7. so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.

(The First Chapter of the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians Chapter 1 verses 6 to 7)

Oh God, my Father I pray that we all become Your witnesses, and learn how to imitate You. In order to do so, You have given us many tools such as the Bible. Among other tools that I found healthy was a pocket book version of a book called 'The Imitation of Christ by John A. Kempis that I used to keep in the right pocket of my trousers along with my pocket size version of the New Testament of the Bible which is always found in the left pocket. In order to make this source accessible, I have included the following link:-

The Imitation of Christ

8. For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith in God has become known, so that we have no need to speak about it. 9. For the people of those regions report about us what kind of welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God, 10. and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead-Jesus who rescues us from the wrath that is coming.

(The First Chapter of the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians Chapter 1 verses 8 to 10)

Oh God, my Father may we all become channels from where the Good News is proclaimed as in the case of speakers with a booming equaliser that shakes everywhere with the intensity of the sound that comes out of it. May our lives be a living example of how one is to follow in Your ways my God and Father Amen.

I would like to end this chapter with the following prayer:-

Oh God, my Father now is the time for us to rise up and proclaim Your Holy Name, for the forces of evil are in full force trying to enforce terror in our hearts in order to enforce fear and belief in the message that they are proclaiming. Even though this may cause us our life I am ready to lay down my life for You, my God and Father Amen. It is better for me to die because I believe in You than to rot in hell forever for not proclaiming Your Word or showing a lack of faith Amen.
